LIFE .. in a nutshell...

Was chatting with an old friend and thought of this....
BIRTH: is when a cell is created;
LIFE: is when creation and destruction of cells is happening side by side;
DEATH: is when the destruction of cells supersedes the creation ...

So... The Start of something, is actually the beginning a journey, to the inevitable END.

Don't "THINK" you can.... "KNOW" you can...

A dialogue from the movie "The Matrix".....
Morpheus: What are you waiting for? You're faster than this. Don't think you are, know you are..
This dialog from the movie, although a sci-fi flick... just clicked in my head for some reason.
Can this be applied to a real life scenario as well? This question bothered me for many days when I finally decided to give it a try. And this is what happened.....
I was 21 years old, and I did not know how to drive a car. The only driving that I ever did was controlling the steering wheel when someone else was driving the car. Well, the moment of truth came when one of my friends asked me to pick his car up from the workshop as he was busy with some work. Although it was only a 2 Km drive and I had the basic idea of how the clutch/gears are used, the knowledge was only theoretical. Not a very suitable situation, but I decided to try the "Matrix" philosophy here... I tried to visualize myself sitting in the car, putting it into first gear, and then shifting to the 4th gear, and driving seamlessly. I thought that I can drive a car, but I assured my mind that I know how to drive a car. After that I went to the workshop, thought about the driving, and turned on the ignition. I put it into first gear, and slowly eased the clutch pedal. The car jerked into motion, and in a few seconds I was cruising in 4th gear, but only for a few minutes as I soon reached my destination.

This little experiment turned out to be a successful one and gave me a whole new perspective of life on how can a difficult situation be overfome. But the question still remained, that was it possible to apply this theory to all aspects of life?
After that I tried to implement this many a times, when I would be stuck with work and there would not be a single acceptable alternative I could find. At that time I used to assure myself that I know what the solution is, just need to work a little harder to find it.

As a background, my father and mother have been deeply involved (for the last 30+ years) in teaching practices such as Meditation, Siddhi and its Advanced Techniques across the globe, as taught by our guru HH Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

So, I was lucky enough to be brought up in such an enviornment where living in harmony with nature and following the natural law was a daily routine.

One fine day, my father (who was not aware of my so called experiments) came up with a more refined theory. He mentioned about practicing a technique where you start to ascertain something that you want most in life, and then just visualize yourself as if you had achieved it. It sounded a little strange at first. But after pondering on this point for a few minutes I started to find similarities on what my father has said, and what I had been experimenting. Wasn't this the same as what I was doing? And given his extensive experience in this particular field I had no reason to argue on this point.
I decided to take up my father's recommendation since it was a more refined version of my theory, and that finally became "Don't THINK you can, KNOW You can..."
Till date, I have been able to successfully apply this technique whenever I am faced with a problem or when I really want something to happen. I am not sure how this would apply to other individuals.... but given the fact that we are biologically similar beings, I don't think it should be a problem.

These are only preliminary results of applying the technique in real life, but so far it has proven to be very effective in my life.
Although based on the technique, anything is achievable, the rest all depends on an indivudual's willingness.....
(Dirty minds, don't be thinking of doing "just about everything" using this technique... ;-) )

My Views on STRESS, and its Elimination

STRESS

I start with a Chinese proverb which states: “we are born naked, wet and hungry and then the things get worse

Nowadays everything we do, everywhere we go, there is certain amount of stress involved. The hectic lifestyle is one of the reasons for that, and add to it, the corporate responsibilities, where teamwork is involved.
Had it been for an individual, it would be so easy to predict, since the entire responsibility is on one person but as in a team environment, different bits add up for a collective success. One bit goes down, the entire system suffers. All this adds up to what our topic is today… “STRESS”.
The hottest term nowadays and related to this we hear another term “Stress Management”. Personally I believe its in-appropriate to use this term.

Stress is nothing but a waste product of our lifestyle. But the question is, do we “Manage” waste? Or “Eliminate” it.
A simple example would be the trash that we have at our homes. do we manage it? Like putting it under the sofa, or behind the door? No!! We throw it out , get rid of it, eliminate it.
And today I am going to express my views about Stress Elimination.

Unfortunately there is no pill available to eliminate stress, some people believe that getting high n drugs or alcohol, they get rid of stress. What they do not know is that they are only adding on to the stress that they have. Just like an Ostrich who hides its head in the sand and believe that no one can see it.

Stress is not an entity but a phenomenon, an ongoing process, which cannot be stopped. And the only way to get rid of it is to face it.
A problem can be defined as a situation which we don’t know how to handle. The moment we know how to handle it, we no more have a problem. I know its easier said than done, but hey! How many of us knew how to walk and talk when we were born?
Like any other art, we need to learn to eliminate stress. Although its not possible to deduce a single method for it, there is a general approach to this.
The only time to face stress is when we are highly relaxed (de-stressed).
People nowadays are opting for different method of unstressing like Yoga, Meditation, Laughter therapy; Group sessions where we discuss our personal problems and let go our inhibitions and try to be what and who we are. This is similar to the sessions like they have at rehab- centres, the only difference is that people at the rehab-centres are addicted to drugs etc. who don’t know how to handle the urge, and here we have people who don’t know how to handle stress, or extremely stressful situations. There is a very famous ‘verse’ from “Bhagwad Geeta”: “Karmanye-va–dhikaraste, Ma-faleshu–kadachanah”, which means, “Keep doing your work with full heart and don’t worry about the result”.
When looking at this verse from a different perspective it indirectly means that If you do something whole –heartedly and with dedication , you don’t have to worry about the results, because it will always be successful.
Just like if you add 2 and 3 properly you will always get 5, and no matter how many times you add 2 and 2.99 you will never get 5, you may be extremely close to it but never upto the mark.
This clearly means that unless we do something with complete dedication and clarity, we will always have doubts about success, which inadvertently leads to low levels of stress, which in due course of time accumulates to form a high level of stress altogether.

WHAT IS UNDERSTANDING ???

WHAT IS UNDERSTANDING ??

Welll, what do we know about "UNDERSTANDING" ?
A very heavy word or The base of all relationships??? is that it?
Many of us consider Understanding as "Knowing what a person is thinking without them telling you." .... That is so "Not-True". At least I dont agree with this.

I believe understanding someone means discussing the rights and the wrongs, and mutually agreeing on one conclusion. If you can not agree on a single point, it does not mean lack of understanding, it simply means, Lack of detail, so go ahead, dig in for more detail.
Approach, Patience, Love, Understanding, are the Four keywords for a successful relationship.

What say you??

INTRODUCTION...

So Finally, I am writing my First post, its a great feeling.
Although I can Blab(ber) for as long as someone can have the patience to listen, putting it down in words is something which seems really interesting.

As for the title: Dreamz of a Reluctant Intellectual...
No hidden meanings, it exactly means the way its written.

My friends usually tell me that I hardly make any sense, but moments I do make sense, its really good, so everyone, its a request, if something does not make sense, please read on, and definitely something will.... :-)

I am going to start with my thoughts on relationships and understanding.
I had been helping some friends out with their relationships and whatever I learned there may be helpful to some other people out there, and thats why I thought, Why NOT? Lets share it and see if it helps anyone.

What I am about to write is something very obvious, and seems to be common sense, but I have seen, "Common Sense" is something which becomes very "Uncommon" whe their is a fight between the Heart and the Mind.

The next post is about understanding>>> Read On...
